Datedick starts up

In 1998, almost 20 years ago, Datedick began at eGroups with a vision. Men with equal interests and fantasies should be able to find each other to have fun. The most modern community technologies should help them.

Datedick always wanted to offer more than the usual dating platforms of that time. But the change of the millennium not only brought great technology advances but also some surprising and sobering changes for the community and adult industry as a whole.

A first harbinger was when Yahoo deleted adult groups from its search directory in 2001. This made it more difficult for Datedick men to connect and locate adult content. Therefore we looked for a new platform. In 2006 Datedick moved to Ning. A dynamic start-up and modern platform that time, that looked promising and liberal. But in 2008 Ning announced that it would no longer host adult networks. History repeated itself. Many networks had to leave Ning, but Datedick decided to stay.

We wanted to keep the community alive but members could only share G-Rated content from that time on. It was suprising though how many Datedick members accepted those changes for 8 years. In April 2017 Old Datedick had over 9.000 members and more than 20.000 member photos.

Many tips, tricks and fantasies where exchanged over the years. Many friendships and connections where established. But we where eager to move on. After April 20th, 2017 Old Datedick will be history on Ning. New Datedick will be the future.

New Datedick in 2017

In February 2017 there was another big change. New Datedick Beta was released and was finally hosted on it’s own servers. We can control our destiny and the quality of services ourselves. We are using the most advanced hosting, database, community and progressive web technologies. Datedick men can enjoy a lot of new features on all their mobile devices and censorship is finally over. Right now there are 3564 new members, 2608 G-Rated, 933 Featured and 1981 X-Rated member photos online. The growth rate and engagement is pretty amazing.

That’s why we want to thank all previous Datedick members for your support. And we welcome all new members to New Datedick. We provide the technology and the setting. But you make this project real. Let’s make Datedick great again.
